An open letter to my Congressional representatives:

I am a long-time anti-war peacenik pacifist. I was against the Vietnam War, and I thought invading Afghanistan was a mistake. A more targeted, intelligent use of lethal force against those who attacked us on 9/11 would have been more successful and less costly in blood and treasure.

Needless to say, I was opposed to our invasion of Iraq. It was a stupid waste of our soldiers' lives, innocent lives and a large contributor to our national debt.

Having said all that, I've seen the intelligent use of "smart lethal power" by a president who has kept us safe and is feared by the terrorists ("hey guys, what's that droning sound overhead").

This president is respectful (not wasteful) of life and limb of our soldiers and of the cost of war.

Because of this, I urge Amy Klobuchar, Al Franken and Collin Peterson to give their approval of the president's use of force against the leaders of Syria. I have full confidence that he will use this power wisely in the interest of America, our allies, innocent civilians and the good people of the world.
