Letter: Free Lang concert at casino was highlight
"Wow! How did I miss that?" That is a question that a lot of people should be asking this week around the watercooler or wherever people congregate. On Aug. 17 we (my son, his wife and her sister, and my wife and I) headed up Highway 89 and over to the 7 Clans Casino in Thief River Falls to see Jonny Lang play in a sturdy tent for about 300 people.
Now my research has shown me that Mr. Lang, who has a new album (CD) coming out in September, "Fight For My Soul," will be at the Fargo Theater on Sept. 17 and the State Theater in Minneapolis on Sept. 18 with ticket prices at $45 and $75, respectively.
Those of us who had heard about, or had previously experienced the Last Ride Blues Fest, held every year in August in Thief River Falls, and made this journey a part of our summer were blessed to see Jonny and his wonderful band put on a great show for a few people for free. I would like to thank the Red Lake Reservation and the 7 Clans Casino for making this happen and I urge more people to check the website next year to see who they might surprise us with.
