Letter: Elected representatives deserve thanks
If you happen to see one of our locally elected representatives, take a moment to thank them for their service, whether they be members of the local town council, county commissioners, representatives or senators. For the most part they come under a lot of criticism — sometimes well earned, sometimes not. I happen to believe that they think that their causes, their votes, and their solutions are worthy of support. More important, I believe that they want to make our area a better place in which to live and earn our daily bread.
Now, don’t misunderstand me. When I think they are wrong or that they get mixed up in wretched wrangles, I communicate to them and often about them and you should, too. But that doesn’t make them any less worthy of a handshake and an occasional “thank you.” Often, they are, like us, imperfect people dealing with imperfect situations.
