Letter: Community support keeps Humane Society going

The staff and volunteers of the Beltrami Humane Society work hard everyday to care for and find good homes for companion dogs and cats. It is a task full of challenges, hard choices and limited resources. To achieve any level of success would be impossible without your support.

I am so grateful that you stepped up again in 2013 and supported the Humane Society with volunteer hours, in-kind donations, adoptions and financial contributions. It is encouraging to know that you believe in the work we are doing. Here is just a glimpse at your impact in 2013:

•Adoptions: 272

•Recorded volunteer hours: 1,938

•Food donations:10,265 pounds

•Other donations: Thousands of dollars of pet supplies

•Financial contributions: $108,000

There is much anticipation for the coming year. The board of directors and I are committed to serving this community by making this organization sustainable and effective. We have many goals including a better dog training and assessment program, fund development and becoming more actively involved in the community.

Thank you so much for your contributions in 2013. I know that we will be able to count on you again in 2014. We will not stop working to rescue, care for and find homes for companion animals of this community.
