Lester Charles Ashton

Lester Charles Ashton (known by all as Les), age 80 of Bemidji, Minnesota died of heart disease Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Havenwood Care Center. Memorial services will be forth coming in the spring to early summer 2014 to allow time for out of state family members to attend. Les was born on September 22, 1933 in Sacred Heart, Minnesota. He was the second of five children born to Charles and Clara Ashton. Les was a hardworking man who had an endless supply of energy. He raised six children of his own and was a step father to three others. He was a concrete construction professional for 60 of his 80 years of life. He loved hunting, fishing, hard work, and enjoyed spending time with those he loved, like his ritual Sunday afternoons with Tony and his family. Les was a strong willed man who spoke his own peace. He was always willing to give his time, skills, and equipment to help anyone in need. Everyone who knew Les knew they could count on him. If there was a need Les would always be there to lend a hand. Les will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife Millie, children; Sherri, Lynda, Judith, Lester Jr., Stacy, and Heidi, step children; Denise, Dianne, and Scott, as well as numerous grandchildren, including; Cody, Dillon, and Tony whom each shared a special relationship with their granddad. Les was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clara and by his sister, Shirley Wyatt. Condolences may be left at ceasefuneralhome.com.
