Lenore Aschauer, 94, of Bemidji, MN died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji, with family at her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 2, 2013 at St. Philips Catholic Church in Bemidji with Fr. Don Braukmann officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Bemidji.
Lenore Rose Nattermann was born September 7, 1918 in Springfield, IL to William and Marie (Stein) Nattermann. She grew up in Springfield, and graduated from Springfields Sacred Heart Academy in 1936. She was employed in the offices of the State of Illinois and later, in the office of Illinois Bell Telephone Company. Lenore married George Aschauer on May 3, 1941 in Springfield, IL, and shortly after they moved to Racine, WI where George took a job and they raised their family.
Lenore was involved in many charitable activities during their forty years in Racine, including volunteer work at the hospital, at her parish church and school, and with the Racine Junior League. In 1994 George and Lenore retired to Bemidji to be closer to family.
Lenore enjoyed playing bridge, reading fiction, and, in her younger years, she enjoyed traveling, having visited many countries throughout Europe. She loved time spent in conversation with family and friends, and will be remembered by them as a kind, loving, and ever gracious woman.
Lenore is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, George Aschauer of Bemidji; daughters Jane (David) Wilcox of Bemidji and Susan Ozdaglar of Northville, MI; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister; Jack (Patricia) Nattermann of Springfield, IL, Bill Nattermann of Palm Harbor, FL; and Helen Doyle of Glenview, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, John George Aschauer and Stephen Aschauer.
