Legislators should reflect interests of area
The upcoming Minnesota legislative session will be a challenge to our northern Minnesota DFL legislators. Pent-up demands by DFL legislators who have had to contend with former Gov. Pawlenty (Republican) and the Republican-controlled legislature for the past two years will now have seldom seen opportunities to enact many laws into effect.
Well, why not? That’s why they were elected. But I hope and expect our Bemidji area legislators, Sen. Rod Skoe and Rep. John Persell, will continue to reflect the interests of our area and not be overly subject to the influence of powerful legislators from the Twin Cities. Perhaps recognition and support of our school busing financial needs by Twin Cities legislators would be a good start.
