Legislative candidates to debate on Lakeland Public Television

This week will see legislative candidate forums on Lakeland Public Television 9/22.

Sponsored by Lakeland News, the Bemidji Pioneer and KAXE community radio, the forums will feature northern Minnesota legislative candidates answering questions from a media panel.

Different this year, the debates will be taped during the afternoon and aired that evening on Lakeland Public Television.

On Monday, candidates for Senate 3, Democrat Tom Saxhaug and Republican Dan McGuire, will air at 7 p.m. The debate for House 3A, Democerat Tom Anzalc and Republican Mary Ott, will air at 8 p.m. The debate for House 3B, Democrat Loren Solberg and Republican Carolyn McElfatrick, will air at 9 p.m.

On Thursday, the debate for Senate 4, Democrat Mary Olson and Republican John Carlson, will air at 7 p.m. The debate for House 4A, Democrat John Persell and Republican John Carlson, will air at 8 p.m. The debate for House 4B, Democrat Meg Bye and Republican Larry Howes, will air at 9 p.m.

On Friday, the debate for Senate 2, Democrat Rod Skoe and Republican Dennis Moser, will air at 7 p.m. The debate for House 2B, Democrat Brita Sailer and Republican David Hancock, will air at 8 p.m.

The media panel includes Lakeland News Director Dennis Weimann, Bemidji Pioneer Political Editor Brad Swenson and KAXE News Director Scott Hall.

Questions from the public may be submitted to debates@lptv.org prior to the date of the debate.
