Legion rallies past Nisswa to gain sub-district winner's bracket final

The Bemidji Legion baseball team rallied with a run in the eighth inning and two in the bottom of the ninth to escape Nisswa 5-4 Wednesday afternoon in the opening round of the District 6-1 North baseball tournament at the BSU diamond.

The win advanced the Legion into Wednesday's 8 p.m. winner's-bracket final against Brainerd which stopped Little Falls 12-2 earlier Wednesday.

In the game against Nisswa Bemidji trailed 4-2 heading into the eighth inning. Cody Rutledge's home run off the top of the left-field fence in the eighth drew the Legion within 4-3 and Bemidji won it with two runs in the ninth when Mitchell Hendricks ripped an RBI double to left and Rutledge ended the game with an RBI single.
