Leech Lake Band offers free entrepreneur training
The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe's Economic Development Division will offer free entrepreneurial training classes for potential business owners.
Five two-hour classes will be offered 5-7 p.m. March 21 and April 4, 11, 18 and 25 in the Benny Tonce Room at Leech Lake Tribal College in Cass Lake.
In the first class, participants will identify personal objectives, skills and experience, and financial resources.
In classes two and three, participants willdefine their customers, what they will sell them, how much it will cost, where the product will be sold, and how they will connect with customers. They will develop a marketing strategy, define competition and define their distribution process.
Classes four and five will cover management requirements, define operations strategy, develop sales forecast, identify start-up expenses, estimate a 12-month operating budget and estimate a three-year income statement and cash flow.
Economic Development requires the classes for those applying for a loan through the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Revolving Loan Fund.
Loans are available for up to $5,000 based on the viability of a business proposal or up to $50,000 based on a business plan.
