Laporte 10-year-old boy injured on playground recovering
A 10-year-old Laporte boy injured last week in a playground accident returned to classes Tuesday after being airlifted to a Minneapolis hospital.
The boy, the son of Leroy and Leota Whitebird, was apparently not seriously injured when he fell off the platform of a handicapped ramp Friday on the schoolgrounds.
Hubbard County Chief Deputy Frank Homer said school officials said the boy will be wearing a neck collar temporarily, but suffered no lasting injury to his extremities.
"He has all the feeling back in his legs," Homer said.
The boy was taken, as a precautionary measure, to North Memorial Hospital in the Twin Cities after experiencing temporary numbness in his legs.
