The contract was effective April 5.

"This represents a major leap forward for our vision of establishing Bemidji as a center of excellence in orthopedics and sports medicine," said Kevin Lampe, vice president for Sanford National Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. "We have the great reputation and high quality services of Lake Region Bone and Joint and Sanford to serve both locally and in Northern Minnesota."

LRBJ has been providing orthopedic services to the Bemidji region since 1988 and staff nine employees and three orthopedic surgeons including Dr. Thomas Miller, Dr. Terrance Johnson and Dr. Jason Caron.

As LRBJ joins Sanford Bemidji's Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team, they will operate under the legal name of Sanford Bemidji Orthopedic Clinic.

"Lake Region Bone and Joint has a long term commitment of excellence in orthopedics and sports medicine in the Bemidji region," Johnson said. " Sanford Health's focus on expanding high quality care to patients and strengthening community partnerships matches our own. I am very optimistic about what we can do together here and across the region."
