Laila Harriet Hutchings, 92, of Park Rapids, died Friday, April 3, 2009 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids.

She was born on May 8, 1916 in Grant County to Harry and Lillie (Johnson) Stavos. She married Ray Hutchings on July 15, 1937 at Camp Nidos in Ottertail. They moved to Park Rapids in 1954.

She is survived by five children: Roger (Mary), of Hibbing, Dale, of Annandale, Jerry, of New Brunsfels, Texas, Mark (Carleen), of Kalispell, Mont., Gayle Lindgren, of Park Rapids; three sisters: Blanch Goodwin, Dorothy Skramsted and Helen Mack; a brother, Philip (Della) Stavos; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and special friend Colleen Gartner.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters: Janet Kohler and Sonja; two sons: Lonnie and Doug; three sisters: Ina Buck, Betty Bengston and Julia Cooper; a brother, Harlon Stavos; a grandson, Kurt; a great-granddaughter, Desirae Martine; and two great-grandsons: Keith and Kyle Norberg.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Rev. James Neubauer as officiant. Cliff Erickson will be the soloist. The congregational hymn will be "In the Garden."

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday), April 8 with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Casket bearers: Her grandsons, Russell Edelman, Clint, LeRoy, Travis and Steve Hutchings, and Steve Lindgren.

Interment: Friday, April 10 at Ness Cemetery in Elbow Lake.
