The will be a local kick-off for the Lady Slipper Celebration will begin June 24 in Blackduck with a wine tasting at The Pond from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Just for the occasion, there will be sample wines with labels like Lady Slipper, Yellow Moccasin and Ruby Minnesota from Northern Vineyards.
Following the wine tasting, Chamber of Commerce members will be serving tacos, also at The Pond. Both events are open to the public.
The Lady Slipper Celebration will take place June 25, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Wayside Rest and other locations around Blackduck. Pick up your festival guide at the information tent or at the Art Around Town sites in town displaying a lady slipper banner.
Enjoy live music in the gazebo. Food will be available for purchase from the Blackduck Lions, the Blackduck Fire Department and the Blackduck American Legion Auxiliary.
As part of the art walk, Make Your Own Sundaes will be available at the Blackduck Senior Center for all ages. Be ready to ramble, rain or shine! If you plan to spend more of your time listening to music, bring a comfortable chair.
Follow the Art Around Town, Flower Walk and History Highlights map in the festival guide. Take a bus tour at 11 a.m., 12:30 or 2 p.m. Tickets are $3 and will be available at the information tent. Enjoy a one hour naturalist-guided walk in Pine Tree Park at 11 a.m., 1 or 3 p.m.
Look for children's activities in the big hospitality tent.
Travel to CCC Camp Rabideau for a historical presentation at 1 p.m. by Andrea Levasseur and guided camp tours available from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
An established annual event fills out the weekend, the Eighth Annual Blackduck Walleye Classic on Blackduck Lake, June 26. There will be great cash prizes! All proceeds benefit youth, scholarships and the Blackduck Fire Department. Registration must be received before rules meeting, 7 p.m. June 25.

Continue the Lady Slipper celebration July 1-2, in Cass Lakewhere you can visit the Lady Slipper Interpretive tent during the annual July Fourth Pow Wow, Friday from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1-5 p.m.
At the Norway Beach Visitor Center both days, you will find a display of the high school student's festival poster art contest entries.
Saturday at 10 a.m., botanist George-Ann Maxson will present "Orchid Gems of the Lady Slipper Scenic Byway." Learn about our state flower and orchid management along the Scenic Byway.
