Kurt Long Voelkner honored as special volunteer
The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize Someone Special Volunteers who have made significant contributions to the community.
Kurt Long Voelkner was nominated by the Bemidji Middle School Parent Teacher Organization as a Someone Special Volunteer.J
He is a dedicated and committed teacher at Bemidji Middle School. He goes above and beyond the classroom by being actively involved in several different organizations at the middle school, most of which he started.
He leads the PTO, the National Junior Honor Society, the Gifted/Talented program and Student Nature Area Project, was elected by school staff to be the Site Council adviser, co-organizes the school Science Fair each year and has searched out numerous science opportunities for young people -- often on his own time. He cares about the schools and community and is an excellent role model.
