This is a brief statement of the deep respect I hold for some courageous men and women. In the past few days, our legislators have debated and voted on a very contentious issue: Minnesota’s law regarding marriage.
To those legislators who voted to maintain marriage between one man and one woman, especially legislators in the DFL party, I say this: You will probably be vilified — or worse — by your opponents. You took a stand, and you will probably suffer for it. However, know that you are in the prayers of many who admire you for serving your constituents honorably in the House and Senate.
Though I may also suffer for writing this letter, I will look to their profiles in courage and know that I will be in good company.
