Kraus-Anderson to build addition to Bear Center in Ely

BEMIDJI – Kraus-Anderson Construction Company has been selected to build an 8,000-square-foot addition to the North American Bear Center in Ely, Minn. The addition is KA’s third project with the Bear Center. KA built the original Center in 2006

The new addition will feature a live bear study facility as well as classrooms, offices and nature panorama displays featuring Northwoods scenes. The architect is Grand Rapids, Minn.-based DSGW. The project will begin in October and is expected to be completed in June.
The North American Bear Center (www.bear.org) advances the long-term survival of bears worldwide by replacing misconceptions with scientific facts about bears, their role in ecosystems and their relations with humans.
