Koivu, Backstrom solid for Wild against Montreal

MONTREAL (AP) -- Mikko Koivu provided Minnesota with key offense, Niklas Backstrom stood tall behind the Wild's defense, and the Montreal Canadiens once again came up short despite finally outshooting an opponent.

Koivu broke a first-period tie with a power-play goal, and Backstrom made 30 saves, leading Minnesota to a 3-1 victory over Montreal on Thursday night.
