Kelliher students make wood duck houses
For the fourth year in a row, students from the Kelliher High School participated in making wood duck houses for The Upper Red Lake Association.
The Kelliher school received a grant from The URLA and the houses will be put up in good waterfowl habitats in the Kelliher and Waskish area. Ninth grade students in the basic woods class cut and assembled 20 wood duck houses.
An extra special house is also made every year with art on it that is then auctioned off at the Kelliher-Waskish Ducks Unlimited Banquet. This banquet is held every year in the fall at the Westwind in Waskish Minnesota. This year for the special house, Kelliher student, Alyssa Nipp, hand painted a wood duck on the front. Nipp was a senior this year and is extremely talented and creative.
The ninth grade students who participated in making the wood duck houses are: Courtney Adams, Alex Erickson, Tyler Gruber, Kelsey King, Avery Kingbird, Al Nistler, Mandy Pula, Tanner Salmonson, Ken Schuh and Zach Spangrud.
