Keith was born on June 17, 1955 in Park Rapids, MN, to Dave and Alice "Scotty" (Johnson) Pence. He graduated from Walker High School in 1973. After graduation he attended Wadena Technical School where he received his degree as a survey technician. He started working at the MN Department of Transportation in Bemidji on September 29, 1976, where he remained for the next 36 years as Senior Engineering Specialist. On September 19, 1987, he was united in marriage to Donna Snobl at her parent's farm in Roy Lake, MN.

Keith was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Twins fan. He loved a good game of cribbage and solving crosswords. Every week he looked forward to his Wednesday night poker games at Frank Pelawa's. Keith could tell a story like no one else could with creative, expressive gestures and interesting sound effects. He was always smiling his goofy smile, trying to make everyone else around him laugh. He loved spending time with his friends, family and especially his "three girls". Keith made a lasting impression and will be missed by many.

Keith is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna of Bemidji; his two daughters Rachel attending UND, Grand Forks, ND and Anna attending UMD, Duluth, MN. His four brothers Allen "Pete" (Judy) Pence of Cass Lake, MN, Mike (Sandy) Pence of Walker, MN, Paul "Hugo" (Jana) Pence of Walker, MN, and Raymond Pence of Whipholt, MN; two sisters Karen Haukos of Walker, MN and Patty Bloomquist of Whipholt, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents- Dave and Alice "Scotty" Pence and a great nephew Gabrial Kvasnicka.
