JUNIOR CURLING: Dropkin rink top seed heading into Page playoffs
WAYLAND, Mass. – Bemidji junior men’s curlers Alex Fenson and Mark Fenner continued their success as members of the Korey Dropkin rink at the National Junior Men’s Championships Thursday.
The Dropkin team improved to 8-1 in the 10-team round-robin by thrashing Jeremy Stubbe of Wisconsin 10-1 and edging Ethan Myers of Minnesota 5-4.
Those victories gave the rink the top spot heading into today’s first round of the Page playoffs.
The battle for the other playoff spots continues today, however. The Scott Dunnam team of Pennsylvania is 6-2 with one draw to go while the Jake Vukich rink finished its round-robin 6-3.
Also with a shot at the playoffs are the Jeremy Stubbe rink of Wisconsin which is 5-3 and the Tim Hodek rink of North Dakota which was 4-3 prior to Thursday’s late draw.
The Page playoff winner will claim the national title and will represent the United States later this winter at the Junior Worlds in Sochi, Russia.
