Julie Ann Christensen, 43, of rural Bemidji died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 in a car accident in Proctor, west of Duluth.

She was born Aug. 27, 1964 to Dorothy and Kenneth Holland in Truth or Consequences, NM. She lived on her grandfather's farm west of Laporte. She went to school at Laporte until the 10th grade when the family moved to Searcy, AR. She graduated from Harding Academy in 1982. She attended one semester of college at Harding University and moved home to the farm homestead. She began working at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (NCNRC) in Bemidji in 1985 as a nursing assistant. She earned a Bemidji Vo-technical College practical nursing degree in 1986.

She married Kevin Christensen Sept. 12, 1987 in Bemidji. She earned a Bachelor's degree in K-12 health education in 1998 from Bemidji State University (BSU). She continued to work at NCNRC and in June 2004 received her associate registered nurse degree from BSU. She began working for North Country Regional Hospital in August 2004. She then received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from BSU in 2006. She began working with the nursing resource team at the hospital.

She is survived by her husband; son, Justin, and daughter, Janelle, both of Bemidji; mother and stepfather, Dorothy (Don) Hemenway of Park Rapids; three brothers, Roy of Park Rapids, Jeff of Laporte and Alvin of Searcy, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father

Visitation: 4 to 7 tonight (Wednesday) at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Revs. Gennelle Netland, Keith Zeh and Scott Warne officiating.

Honorary casketbearer: Brian Christensen.

Active casketbearers: Jeff, Roy and Alvin Holland, Russell Lofthus, Steven Gelderman and James Moe.

Interment: Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Bemidji.
