Julia “Julie” Schummer, 78, of Laporte, MN, died Friday, February 22, 2013 in her home.

A Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Papke-Larson officiating. A Time of Sharing will be from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Julie Ann Gillette was born December 27, 1934 in Sauk Center, MN to Earl and Orma (Jones) Gillette. She grew up and attended school in Princeton, MN. She married Henry (Spark) Schummer June 2, 1956 in Iowa. They moved to Guthrie, MN in 1969. Julie was a 4-H leader for years, member of Hungry Hollow Homemakers and the Bemidji Bowling League. She loved vegetable gardening, her flowers and sewing. She was very well known for her pumpkin bars. Every year she enjoyed a women’s weekend with the girls in Duluth. She was always watching out for her family and caring for others.

She is survived by her husband, Henry of Laporte; children, Susan (Brian) Hadrava of Laporte, Linda (Conrad) Christopherson of Mizpah, Sandy (Terry) Tollefson of Laporte and Missi (Rance) Bahr of Bemidji; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Orma Gillette; siblings, Betty, Rudy, Peggy, Lloyd, Dick, Bill, Jim and great-granddaughter, Jordan.
