The Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Commission will meet twice this week to hear land-use requests and planning matters for the Bemidji area.
First, the JPC will convene at 6 p.m. tonight at Bemidji City Hall to hold a public hearing on Planned Unit Development for the south shore redevelopment plan.
The PUD states that the 141.5 acres of land along the south shore of Lake Bemidji will include the already permitted Bemidji Regional Event Center and associated parking; a mixed use of commercial and residential development; and public areas for a beach, trails and aquatic management area.
The JPC then will meet again at 6 p.m. Thursday to hold public hearings on the following requests:
- Variance requests from Mark and Pat Shough for their property at 4202 Pintail Lane Northeast. The Shoughs have requested: a 6-foot variance from the setback requirement from the Ordinary High Water Mark of Lake Bemidji, a 6-foot variance from the required 10-foot setback from a septic tank, a 150-foot setback variance from the septic treatment area to allow for a deck/elevated patio on the west (Lake Bemidji) side of the residence, and an 861-foot variance from impervious surface requirements.
- Mike Ettesvold has requested on behalf of Best of the North Realty that a 1.38-acre parcel of land be divided into two parcels without appropriate frontage onto a public street for either parcel. The parcel is a vacant parcel in Irving Beach.
- Ours to Serve House of Hospitality has requested and Interim Use Permit allowing for the operation of a homeless shelter and counseling assistance center on the southwest corner of Mississippi Avenue Northwest and Sixth Street Northwest.
- The final plat submitted for Peaceful Pines Estate subdivision, a 14.47-acre of land at 10329 Wildwood Road Northeast.
