Joint Planning Commission: Walmart driveway entry plans advance

BEMIDJI — Plans to reconstruct the driveway entrance to Walmart passed the Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Commission Thursday night.

The company is proposing to reconstruct the entryway to allow for better traffic flow. That area is considered one of the most prone to traffic accidents in the city.

The project is projected to be finished by mid-2013, according to the meeting packet. Walmart is paying for the project.

The company also plans to replace the signs and repaint the building.

The plans will now go before the Joint Planning Board for final approval at its Jan. 9 meeting.
