John Michael Rossi, 90, of Bemidji passed away peace-fully, Monday, January 19, 2009 at in Bemidji.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrange-ments are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
He was born on February 3, 1918 in Mountain Iron, MN the son of Dominic and Stella (Bartoli) Rossi. After graduating from high school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, and then attended Eveleth Junior College, where he was an outstanding athlete. John served in the US Army during WWII, and in 1948 earned his teaching degree from St. Cloud State Teachers College. John taught at a num-ber of schools, including 22 years at the Bemidji High School, where he ran the Driv-ers Training Program with fellow teacher and friend Ellwin Raake.
John will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends, the special place he had in his heart for children, the many things he did to help others, his commitment to teaching people to drive, his enjoyment of music, and his passion for picking blueberries.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Rossi of Bemidji, Son, Joe (Judy Torfin) Rossi of Bemidji, Daughter, Stephanie (David) Larsen of Minnetonka, Grandchildren, Arianna and Alex Larsen, And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Baldo, Rudy, Al, Mike, Mel, and El-mendo Rossi, and his sister Mary Bodovinitz.
