John "Jack" Simonis

Retired Master Sergeant of the USAF, John A. Simonis, husband, father and accomplished artist, passed away at his home on the morning of November 13th 2013. Always the punctually minded, he chose to slip out at precisely 9:15 a.m. during a brief interlude between visiting family members.

As it had been his desire not to make the transition alone; in attendance at the time were three of his four children; Jocelyn, Catherine, and Raymond along with Johns old friend Joan Sipherd. John, who was also referred to as Jack, especially by everyone in his family, as well as close friends had inevitably succumbed to the effects of cancer.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013 at St. Philips Catholic Church, Bemidji with Fr. Don Braukmann officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Trail.

He is survived by three loving daughters; Andrea, Catherine, Jocelyn (Chris) and his loving son Raymond as well as eight grandsons; sister, Vicki (Garth). He is also survived by members of two communities; one is International Falls, Minnesota and the other is the small mid-west farming community surrounding Trail, Minnesota. It was in these communities as well as many others that he left behind an extensive group of cousins and friends who will all miss him dearly. John was a caretaker and provider to the very end; he always cared for and respected others whether they man or beast. This day also happened to be Johns date of birth, he was 77.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Simonis; parents, Millie and Michael Lucachick; brother, William Lucachick and grandson, Nicholas Nacey.
