John L "Squirrel" Critt, 50, of Frazee, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.

John Lee Critt was born to Beatrice Critt on May 20, 1958 in White Earth, where he attended school through the 10th grade, then moved to Frazee, where he graduated from Frazee High School in 1978. Following graduation he worked as a welder in a number of communities in the Western U.S. He returned to Frazee in the early 1980s.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family; especially his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed time spent in his shop and giving kids rides on his four-wheeler.

John is survived by his companion, Joyce Skaalen of Rochert; sons, Matthew Critt of Frazee and Derek Skaalen of Detroit Lakes; brother, Michael Critt of Detroit Lakes; four sisters, Judith Critt of Frazee (his twin sister), Maureen Critt of Keewatin, Minn., Linda Buck of Hot Springs, Ark., and Donna Dibley of Detroit Lakes; four nieces; six nephews; two great nephews and six great nieces.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, April 20 at St. Columba Episcopal Church in White Earth, with the Rev. Lisa Smith officiating. Interment will be in St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery, White Earth.
