Joan Pearl Smith, 45, of Redby, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake with Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. A wake will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Redby Center and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Pallbearers will be Prentice Jr., Todd Smith, Charles Smith Jr., Jack Johnson, Randy Johnson Jr., Michael Barrett Jr., Lee Lussier III, with alternates Keith Smith and Paul Prentice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Trina Johnson, Melissa Lussier, Ellie Mae Johnson, Marlys Smith, Mary Prentice, Elizabeth Hegstrom, Bobbi Jo Johnson, Patricia Johnson, Wyndi Barrett, Leranda Johnson, Shantelle Lussier, Leah Lussier, Debra Lussier and Rhianne Hegstrom.
She was born June 22, 1963, to Patrick and Irene (Fairbanks) Smith in Red Lake. She lived her whole life in Redby. She was a homemaker and devoted herself to her daughter Jasmine.
She is survived by daughter: Jasmine of Redby; sisters, Erma Lussier of Red Lake, Valerie Johnson of Redby, Gloria Smith of Redby, Jennifer Smith of Redby, Josie Smith of Redby and Phyllis Smith of Redby; brothers, John A. Smith of Levenworth, Kan., Patrick Smith of Redby, Richard Smith of Bemidji and Craig Smith of Ponemah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Patricia Smith and Cynthia Prentice; brother, Charles Smith; and a great nephew.
