Joan Elvera Hill of Rocky Point became an angel on May 3, 2013 when she died at the LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 69.
Joan was born of October 28th 1943 in Salol, MN to Olga (Nelson) and Ingvald Olson. She graduated from Roseau High School and later married William Hill on July 28, 1963. They lived in Bemidji, MN for many years, before settling at Rocky Point, near Roosevelt, MN several years ago. She enjoyed being a mom; and her greatest joys were her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting and taking care of her flowers. She was a charter member and past president of the Bemidji Eagles Club.
She is survived by her husband, William of Rocky Point; children, Tim Hill of Rocky Point, Janell (Ray) Estes of Warroad, and Laurie Hill of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Hannah and Levi Hill and Erin and Billy Estes; siblings, Marianne (Ed) Kristofferson of Salol, MN, Stanley (Wanda) Olson of Warroad, Duane (Shelia) Olson of Beltrami Forest, Ruby (Dean) Atkinson of Hugo, MN and Carol (Newell) Broten of Roseau; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and son, William Ryan; siblings, Otto Olson, Eileen Sorenson, Raymond Olson, and twin sister, Janice Storzuk.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6th at 1 PM at First Lutheran Church in Salol, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Interment will be at the Spruce Cemetery in Roseau.
