Jim Schram, Sr.
James Schram, Sr., 89, of Blackduck, MN, died September 20, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society in Blackduck.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Blackduck with Pastor Dan Heath officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Summit Township Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck with military honors by the American Legion.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Gayle Rousch, Jeffrey Fontana, Mark Maule, Joe Cocoran, Dick Hentges and Daryl Deno.
He was born February 10, 1921 in Menomonie, Wisconsin the son of Otto and Sarah Schram. He served with the US Navy from 1942-1945. He married Evelyn Thompson in 1943. They lived in Minneapolis, where he worked for AT&T until 1978 when he retired. They moved to Blackduck and have lived here since. He was a teacher of woodcarving to many. He was a founding member of the Woodcarver's Festival, never missing an event. He was a mentor with LIFT (Learning Is Fun Together), which has elementary age children interacting with senior citizens. He was a lifetime member of the Bluebird Society. He also was a member of the American Legion in Blackduck and Ducks Unlimited. He was known as "Papa" to everybody.
He is survived by his son James (Laura) Schram, Jr. of Blackduck; daughter Diane (Kevin) Modeen of Princeton, MN; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 60 years Evelyn, his sister Muriel Magden and son in law Isaac Mauricio.
