Jillian Gandsey joins The American as reporter/photographer
BLACKDUCK -- Jillian Gandsey has been hired as a reporter/photographer for The American.
Originally from Hibbing, Minn., Gandsey is a 2013 graduate of Bemidji State University with a degree in mass communications. While at BSU, Gandsey was editor of the Northern Student publication. She also was a member of BSU's popular Eurospring program and was able to study abroad.
For the past four months, Gandsey has worked at the Bemidji Pioneer as a Clerk/Community Content Coordinator. Gandsey was responsible for writing various news items as well as recruiting local blog writers and helping update the Pioneer's website. Gandsey was also instrumental in better developing the Pioneer's video capabilities on the web.
"In the little time I have spent in Blackduck so far, all have been very welcoming," Gandsey said. "I'm thrilled to become more acquainted with the community and to report for The American."
"We are pleased to have Jillian take on this role with The American," said Publisher Dennis Doeden. "She has done very good work in her role at the Pioneer, and I know she is ready to expand that role to the Blackduck, Kelliher and Northome communities."
