Resident of Friday Harbor, WA.

Survived by JoAnn, his wife of 42 years. Daughters, Kristin Black and Jenell (Eric) Gehrke of the Seattle area; grandchildren: Jewlene, Marissa and Brennen.

Also survived by one brother, Jim (Theresa) Black of Snohomish, WA.

Born in Seattle and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. Jerry joined the Army Reserves and was Honorably Discharged in 1963. He retired from VanWaters and Rogers on his 62nd birthday. Moved to San Juan Island, WA in 2002 and he enjoyed being away from the city. He loved his hummingbirds and the water life on Westcott Bay.

Jerry enjoyed visiting his "out-laws": Doug and Gloria Smart, Terry and Miriam Smart of Bemidji and Heidi (Dennis) Gall of Watertown, SD.

There will be no service at his request.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate "Big Jer's" life on July 4th at their home on San Juan Island.
