Saturday's trip to the Moorhead Invitational resulted in a dual meet against Glencoe-Silver Lake for the Bemidji gymnastics team and the Lumberjacks downed the Panthers from central Minnesota 130.521-128.075.

Meet officials divided the teams into a divisional head-to-head play and BHS was paired against Glencoe-SL.

"I don't think we've ever competed against Glencoe-Silver Lake," said Bemidji coach Don Papreck. "It's nice to see some different teams."

Friday at the Alexandria Quadrangular the Lumberjacks scored 135.4. Saturday they dropped almost five points but Papreck said the girls performed very well.

"The judges may have been generous on some things Friday but Saturday the judging was tougher," the coach said.

Each team won two events and the outcome was decided on the beam where Bemidji outscored the Panthers 31.35-29.20.

"We had a great day on the beam," Papreck said. "All of our top four gymnasts stuck their beam routines without a fall. Normally we struggle to have three of them stick the routine."

Jessica Bergquist set the tone on the event by winning with 8.2. Katie Jensen was second at 8.0, Alyshia Moe third at 7.6 and Amy Carey fourth at 7.55.

The Jacks also took the vault 34.75-34.2. Jensen won the event with 8.975 and Bergquist was second at 8.725.

Jensen also was the winner on the bars with a score of 8.325. Sara Erickson captured third with 7.475.

Carey scored 8.9 to lead Bemidji on the floor exercise. Jensen was fourth with 8.7.

Jensen was the all around winner with 34.0. Bergquist finished fourth at 32.225 and Carey sixth at 31.55.

Bemidji is off until Jan. 23 when it visits Perham.
