Jares is wellness winner

Tressa Jares of Bemidji received $1,000 March 29 as the grand-prize winner of the 2010 Bemidji Wellness Challenge.

Explore Chiropractic and the Bemidji State University Recreation and Fitness Center co-sponsored the event.

The 10-week challenge began Jan 4 with 80 participants. The participants who completed the program lost a total of 503.5 pounds and increased their wellness quotient points by 1,518.

Jares increased her Wellness Quotient by 76 points. The increase was due to healthier lifestyle choices such as increase in exercise, water intake, eating healthier, stress management and more.
