"Andy knows the game and is very insightful," Stone said in a press release. "I think he brings the right personality to this position. In addition to his knowledge of the game and the ability to work with players on the field, he is strong in helping our student-athletes develop as people off the field, preparing them to be successful beyond graduation."

The assistant position is an addition to the staff for 2012. The Beavers previously did not have a full-time assistant coach.

Janssen recently completed his second season as a graduate assistant coach at BSU. During his tenure he helped direct the Beavers to consecutive appearances in the NSIC Tournament, which included a 14-4-1 overall record and a 9-3-1 mark in NSIC play in 2010.

While at BSU, he was responsible for the coordination of forward and midfield attacking patterns, planning and implementing practice sessions, goalkeeper training, recruiting, scouting reports and making travel arrangements.

A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Janssen was a four-year letterwinner for the men's soccer team at Northwestern College (Iowa.

Janssen is pursuing a master's degree in sport studies at Bemidji State.

Bemidji State completed the 2011 campaign with an overall record of 8-8-3, while it finished in a three-way tie for sixth place in the final NSIC standings with a 6-4-2 mark in league play.
