The Bemidji High volleyball team continued its path through the state's top rated teams Saturday, beating Hibbing and Hutchinson around a loss to Minneota.
That came after a Friday win over 3A's No. 4 Stillwater and a loss to 3A's No. 6 Wayzata.
Saturday Bemidji knocked off the No, 2 2A team Hibbing 25-20., 25-19.
Brooke Homer had two aces and 19 assists. Kayla Hirt had seven kills, Jess Yost five and Abby Hendricks four.
Courtney Homer made 12 digs, Erika Weimann 9 and Megan Wannebo 7.
Hirt had four blocks and Hendricks and Brooke Homer two.
Bemidji then lost to Minneota, the state's second ranked 1A team 25-16, 25-16.
Brooke Homer made 15 assists while Courtney Homer had 11 digs and Wannebo 8.
Kelsey Heisler had nine kills, Hirt six and Hendricks three.
Heisler had three blocks and Hendricks two.
In the final start, Bemidji beat the states eighth ranked 2A team Hutchinson 21-25, 25-16, 15-11.
Brooke Homer made 31 assists with Hirt getting 18 kills in a dominating performance. She also had six blocks while Yost and Brooke Homer had three.
Weimann had 13 digs, Courtney Homer and Wannebo 10 and Hendricks eight.
Bemidji ended one game better than last year's appearance at the 32-team meet when it went 2-3.
It takes a 6-3 mark on the road this week to Dilworth Tuesday and Red River Thursday before its next home appearance Sept. 22.
"The weekend was great confidence builder," said Coach Teresa Colligan "The girls found out they can play with any team in the state no matter how high they are ranked. It should help them to be more confident the rest of the year."
