Jacks volleyball beats Deer River, remains unbeaten

Jess Yost had 19 kills and 16 digs and Jenna Sagedahl dished 29 assists to lead the Bemidji volleyball team to Tuesday's 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-20, 25-15) at Deer River.

The win was Bemidji's third in as many starts and gives the Lumberjacks momentum as they head to this weekend's invitational in Marshall hosted by Southwest State.

"We had some inconsistencies but finished strong," said BHS coach Theresa Colligan.

Blake Bardwell contributed four solo blocks and assisted on two others while Allie Heifort delivered nine kills.

Jasmine Yerbich collected three aces while Sagedahl and Hanna Olson each added a pair.

Olson also had 10 digs and Bri Thorson seven.

Bemidji begins its weekend action 5 p.m. Friday against Hutchinson.

Bemidji also took Tuesday's preliminaries as the junior varsity won 25-19, 25-8 and the freshman team posted a 27-25, 25-9 win.
