BUFFALO -- The Bemidji softball team grinded out another win.

Just two days after getting a no-hit, 17-strikeout performance from pitcher Jess Yost and gutting out a 4-0 victory, the Lumberjacks gutted out another one, traveling to Buffalo and coming back with a 3-2 win.

"We made a few mistakes today, but we picked it up as a team and got some good run support," Bemidji head coach Brad Takkunen said.

The Lumberjacks (10-6) jumped on the Bison right away, manufacturing a run in the first inning. Courtney Black reached on a base hit, got to second following a groundout by Jineane Williams then scored on another single from Janelle Williams to make it 1-0.

The Lumberjacks scored in similar fashion in the third and fourth innings.

In the third, Janelle Williams reached on a fielder's choice, got to second on a groundout from Hannah Olson then scored when Yost knocked a base hit to the outfield.

Jess Lusby scored in the fourth inning after walking, stealing second, getting to third on a Jasmine Yerbich base hit and going home on a wild pitch.

"It was a pretty solid game with everyone getting involved," Takkunen said. "We spread the hits across pretty well."

Janelle Williams led the team with two hits but six other players had singles for the balanced Lumberjacks.

Buffalo scored in the third and fifth innings but Yost clamped down after the second Bison run and kept them scoreless, earning the win on the mound. She pitched all seven innings, striking out 10 hitters and walking only one. The Bison scattered seven hits in the game while the Lumberjacks cranked out eight.

"Jess had another good game," Takkunen said. "The defense made plays behind her. In all we did a very good job."

The Lumberjacks have only four games remaining in the regular season. They'll host Fargo North in a doubleheader Tuesday at 4 p.m. for their final home game of the season.

Then Bemidji travels to Grand Rapids Thursday and Cloquet Saturday to close out the regular season on the road.
