Austin Korczak and Noah Holter placed second in singles action and Bemidji earned a runner-up finish by Adam Holter and Kyle Fodness at first doubles Thursday at the Northwest Quad hosted by East Grand Forks.

Those results helped the Lumberjacks capture second place in the team standings.

To no one's surprise Thief River Falls did not drop an individual match and coasted to the team title with 21 points. BHS finished with 10 while Crookston had seven and EGF three.

"Our goal was to compete in every match and we accomplished that goal," said Bemidji coach Mark Fodness. "We didn't leave too many points out on the court."

Fodness and Adam Holter formed the lone team to challenge Thief River Falls' Connor Hutton and Micah Rodahl at first doubles. The TRF duo eventually prevailed 6-4, 6-4 but when the match ended they knew they were in a battle.

"Kyle and Adam came as close as anybody did to Thief River," the coach said. "Thief River has a very good first doubles team but we didn't back down.

"Overall, I think we had a good effort from everybody."

Fodness and Adam Holter defeated their EGF and Moorhead foes in straight sets. At second doubles Craig Lindseth and Jack Boyer went 1-2, downing EGF.

Tim Paulus and Zach Hewitt also were 1-2 with a victory over EGF at third doubles.

In singles play Levi Rickert at first and Alec Hess at second were 1-2 with wins over their Crookston foes. Korczak and Holter each collected wins over Crookston and EGF and finished 2-1 on the day.

Bemidji is off until Tuesday when it snaps a long road swing by hosting Detroit Lakes and EGF in a triangular.
