Jacks sputter but stop Warroad 4-3
During the course of a 20-game regular season it is difficult for a high school baseball team to be at its peak every day.
Sometimes you have to win when things aren't going your way. Sometimes you have to find a way to win ugly.
Monday was one of those times for the Lumberjacks.
Bemidji managed only four hits against Warroad at the BSU diamond. Fortunately, one of them was a mammoth 2-run home run by Cody Rutledge in the fifth inning and the blast helped the Jacks improve to 9-1 with a 4-3 victory.
"We have a playing standard that everybody on this team is aware of," said Bemidji coach Mike Fogelson. "We expect to play to that standard every time we step onto the field. Today we won the game but we didn't play to that standard."
