The third doubles tandem of Jenna Lee and Olivia Dickinson captured second place at Monday's season-opening Pine City Invitational and that performance helped the Bemidji girls tennis team finish second in the eight-team field.
Official team scores were not announced but Blake won the every singles and doubles division plus the meet while the Lumberjacks were second in the team chase.
"Finishing second in this tournament, which included many higher-end Class A teams, is a good way to start the season," said BHS coach Mark Fodness. "In terms of points scored we were happy with our performance. We saw many good things but we also saw things that we need to work on.
"Overall we headed home feeling good about where we are at right now," Fodness added.
