Irene Madeline (Lydick) Church, 93, of Bemidji, formerly of Cass Lake, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Bemidji with the Rev. Eric Hucke officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake.
Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with the arrangements.
She was born Aug. 2, 1915, to Horace and Susan (Roy) Lydick in Cass Lake. She grew up in the Pennington area and graduated from Crosby High School. On Jan. 21, 1939, she married Lyle Church in Cass Lake. They owned and operated Pike Hole Resort from 1962-1972. They retired from the resort, but resided in the area all her life. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, berry picking and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Rodney (Donna) Church of Bemidji; sisters, Gloria Fisher of Guthrie and Harriet Kasprick of Chanhassen, Minn.; brother, Clinton (Alice) Lydick of Bemidji; one grandson; two step-grandsons; two great-grandsons; and a step-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Maynard; and sisters, Mae Norenberg, Verona Vinar, Lorraine Barr and Jeanne Hanson.
