The sheriff’s office asks that people who were in Blackduck that evening think back to that time frame and think about anything they might have seen or heard. A vehicle or suspicious character in the area of the motel that night that someone may have seen could be the catalyst to solving the crime, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release.

Anyone who has ideas should call the Blackduck Police Department at 218-835-4802 or stop an officer on the street to talk. Citizens can also call the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office at 333-9111 or, toll-free, 888-449-9111, or call Sheriff’s Investigator Danelle Haugen at 333-8451.

Citizens can also contact Crimestoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477), visit the website www.crimestoppersmn.org, or text TIP674 plus a message to CRIMES (274637). Tips to Crimestoppers that lead to the arrest and conviction of a suspect are eligible for a cash reward.
