Inez Illies, 77, of Bagley, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bagley. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the church, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Bagley.
The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born June 28, 1931, to Lester and Elsie (Halverson) Stenseng in Holst Township, Clearwater County, Minn. She was the second of three daughters. She graduated from Bagley High School in 1949 and attended bookkeeping school in Owatonna, Minn. She married Leonard Illies on Oct. 22, 1949, in Fosston. She worked as a phone operator for Garden Valley Telephone Company, in the early 1950s. She also worked at area businesses such as the G&G Café and the Bagley Mercantile. She and her husband became owner-operators of Illies Oil Co. which operated for 30 years. She was a bookkeeper for their company and she also worked as a cook at the Truck Stop Café. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, crocheting, attending craft sales, reading, gardening and her pets.
She is survived by her daughters, Barb (Dallas) Reese of Bagley and Elaine Lebeda of Bagley; sons, Neal (Diane) Illies of Solway, Mike Illies of Chicago, Ill., and Jerry (Jody) Illies of Bagley; sisters, Anna (David) Chumley of Bowling Green, Ky., and Zelda (Brad) Bruhjell of Duluth, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and special friend, Sue Korf.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2001; mother, in 2001; and father, in 1978.
