At 7:37 p.m. Wednesday, Bruce D. Shaugabay, 28, of Warroad, Minn., was attempting to pass another westbound vehicle on state Highway 11 in Roseau County when he lost control of his 2001 Chevy Tahoe. The vehicle rolled, coming to a rest on its roof.

The state patrol said Shaugabay and his two passengers, 14-year-old Rodney W. Hamlin, of Warroad, and Andrew S. Hipwell, 30, all suffered non-life threatening injuries. Shaugabay and Hamlin were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

All three were taken to Roseau's LifeCare Medical Center, which declined to release their conditions on Thursday.

The drivers involved in two separate accidents on U.S. Highway 2 due to icy roads escaped without injury, the state patrol reported.

At 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, Gene W. Irelan, 23, of Fosston, Minn., was eastbound on the highway west of McIntosh when he lost control of his 1993 Buick LeSabre, causing the vehicle to go off the road and roll. He was uninjured in the crash and was wearing a seat belt.

Jami J. Burdick, 32, of Bemidji, was eastbound in Beltrami County at 8:24 a.m. Thursday when she lost control of her 1999 Pontiac Bonneville on the icy highway. Her car went off the road on the right side and struck a tree.

The Pontiac was totaled, but Burdick was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured in the crash.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reported Thursday morning that driving conditions remain difficult across the northern part of the state with snow, reduced visibility and icy patches widespread throughout the region.

Officials urge motorists to use caution if they are traveling during Thursday's stormy weather.
