Ice, weather shut down fishing on opening day in Bemidji area
BEMIDJI – The extensive ice cover on the lakes, temperatures barely above freezing and a strong northwest wind shut down the fishing activity in the Bemidji area on Saturday and opening day of the walleye and northern pike fishing seasons came and went without any fanfare.
