Hunter who died Saturday identified

The man who died Saturday in a hunting accident has been identified as Anthony Vossen, 47, of rural Melrose, Minn.

According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Vossen died Saturday morning when the strap holding his portable deer stand east of Bemidji broke and he fell about 20 feet from his deer stand.

The incident was reported at 7:50 a.m. after family members found Vossen's body in the woods.

The family told the Sheriff's Office that Vossen spent many seasons hunting in Super Bush Townships about 15 miles east of Bemidji, where the accident occurred.
