Hunter suffers gunshot wound in Beltrami County

An 18-year-old Wisconsin hunter was injured Sunday in Beltrami County.

According to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office:

An investigation indicated that Derek Scott Bohner of West Salem, Wis., accidentally shot himself in the leg with a handgun.

The incident was reported at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Bohner was located near the Pine Point canoe landing in Jones Township.

Beltrami Deputies and Becida First Responders provided first aid and Bemidji Ambulance responded to transport Bohner to North Country Regional Hospital.

He was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon.

A Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer assisted Beltrami County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
