Cars, buses and semis packed into the parking lot of Fleet Farm and Walmart at Alexandria Sunday when state transportation officials closed the interstate because of a snow storm. Other motorists pulled into gas stations and restaurants to wait for the interstate to reopen.

The Minnesota State Patrol tells KARE-TVthe reopening of I-94 was delayed by the difficult task of clearing large trucks from the ditch.

Some truck drivers blew their horns when the metal barriers were opened Monday afternoon and a steady stream of motorists resumed their trips.
